Chair, solid wood, spruce (red fir)
Client: RISOU

This chair is inspired by the seats that were traditionally found in the “pintes vaudoises”, the popular bistros located in the rural areas of the state of Vaud, Switzerland.

Its character is the result of the constraints linked to spruce (red fir). This wood being softer than ash or oak, specific assemblies have been studied in close collaboration with the carpenter. A strong chamfer underlines the periphery of the seat and the edge of the backrest posts. This avoids a sharp angle that would be delicate in use in case of repeated shocks, improves comfort and gives a soft character compared to other stricter angles.

The entire chair can be machined with a 3-axis CNC except for the steam-curved backrest. This production process allows for an affordable selling price.
